Anna University and Ramco Systems Sign MOU to Establish an Intelligent ERP Lab for Industrial Engineering Students

The lab will give students hands-on exposure to AI-powered ERP platforms, intelligent workflows, and modern enterprise technologies. The collaboration will also enable academic engagements, applied research, and innovation initiatives, along with pathways for internships and placements.

Chennai, INDIA — March 17, 2026 — Global enterprise software company Ramco Systems announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Anna University, Chennai to establish a dedicated ERP Lab for the University’s Industrial Engineering programme. The MOU outlines a structured framework that includes faculty enablement, industry-oriented training, skill development and provision for research and academic events, giving students practical exposure to the enterprise systems widely used by modern manufacturing organizations.

Under this collaboration, Ramco Systems will provide access to its cloud-based ERP platform to students of Anna University, enabling them to gain practical exposure to modern enterprise software systems used across industries. Students will be able to use the ERP platform through secured login credentials. The initiative will also include training programs for faculty members to effectively integrate ERP technology into academic learning and research.

Beginning with the upcoming academic year, the lab will be integrated into undergraduate and postgraduate coursework, enabling students to apply classroom learning to real-world scenarios across manufacturing operations, supply chain, and finance. Students will gain hands-on experience within a secure ERP environment, setting up data inputs to configure scenarios, adjusting process parameters and navigating end‑to‑end workflows in a controlled academic setting. To further strengthen practical learning, Ramco Systems will also offer industry‑oriented training sessions totalling around 15 hours each semester, helping students build applied skills relevant to enterprise software systems and digital transformation. As Ramco’s ERP solution evolves, the lab will receive ongoing updates and enhancements, ensuring that learners are exposed to the latest ERP features used in modern manufacturing. The MOU also includes structured avenues for internships and campus recruitment, offering a clear progression from classroom practice to career opportunities.

In addition to supporting student learning, the MOU framework provides for a range of academic activities and industry-academia engagements, including jointly organized seminars, workshops, and consultancy initiatives, all conducted in accordance with Anna University’s norms. These activities aim to encourage applied research and strengthen the connection between industrial engineering education and real‑world practice.

The MoU was facilitated by the Department of Industrial Engineering, College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University. The agreement was signed by Dr. V. Kumaresan, Registrar i/c, Anna University, and Mr. Ravi Kula Chandran R, CFO, Ramco Systems, in the presence of senior officials from the University and Ramco Systems.

Dr. V. Kumaresan, Registrar i/c, Anna University, Chennai, said, “Through this MOU, we are strengthening the academic foundations of our Industrial Engineering programme by introducing students to enterprise systems that shape decision‑making in modern manufacturing. As an institution, we place strong emphasis on aligning our curriculum with emerging industry expectations and this agreement enables us to enrich our academic design with tools and workflows that students would otherwise encounter only after entering the workforce. The MoU also supports our broader efforts to build a research‑driven ecosystem, allowing faculty and students to engage with real‑world workflow scenarios in a structured academic setting. Through hands-on interaction with these systems during their studies, learners develop a level of familiarity and confidence that will support their transition into internships and career roles in manufacturing and related sectors.”

Mr. Balaji R, Business Unit Head – ERP, Ramco Systems, said, “Industry today needs engineers who are not only technically sound but also comfortable navigating software that informs planning, scheduling, and operational decisions. Early exposure to such software helps students develop the systems‑oriented mindset increasingly expected in modern industrial roles. They begin to understand how information moves through an organisation, how decisions are interconnected, and why standardized processes matter for efficiency and consistency. We look forward to working with Anna University under the MOU framework to support their students in building the intuitive understanding required to operate in data‑rich, technology‑enabled industrial environments.”
