Bengalurua: With the objective of establishing a direct connection between classroom learning and practical industry activities and to open industry-oriented career opportunities for Mechanical Engineering students of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), the Department of Mechanical Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UD Trucks India. UD Trucks India, part of Japan’s UD Trucks Corporation under the Isuzu Group, develops and manufactures medium and heavy-duty trucks, focusing on engineering, technology, and smart logistics solutions.
As part of the agreement, UD Trucks India will offer internship opportunities, structured placement support and recruitment pathways. The company will host industrial visits to its manufacturing facilities and conduct expert led technical sessions. The collaboration will also support joint research initiatives with faculty members and research scholars.
The MoU process was facilitated by Dr. Ramachandran T, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and Dr. Beemkumar, Deputy Dean – Research at Department of Mechanical Engineering. The signing ceremony was graced by Vice President Mr. Raveendra Bhandari along with senior representatives Mr. Saravana Arjun and Mr. Midhun Chakravarthi, and other officials from UD Trucks India.
During the event, these industry leaders spoke on industry expectations, product development and current trends in the commercial vehicle sector. As part of the event, UD Trucks India team presented a live technical session that introduced students to a driveline unit to be used for practical training in automotive power transmission systems and to enhance students’ technical knowledge of industry-relevant driveline technology.
The students curiously raised a range of important questions regarding internship opportunities, the structure of training programs, industry collaboration in final-year projects, research partnerships, placement prospects, modern manufacturing processes and effective market strategies. All their queries were addressed clearly by the academic team and representatives from UD Trucks. The experts elaborated on the technical aspects in detail. They also shared insights into current industry requirements, future prospects and the practical dimensions related to students’ career development.
This MoU marks the beginning of a path breaking initiative for academic–industry collaboration.
